The Assembly Evangelist of Christ Apostolic Church, His Fame House, Akesan Igando, Evangelist Temitope Samuel Ologbosere has said that a Christian is a Christ imitator.
The man of God said this recently while teaching on the topic “CHRISTIAN; WHAT HAVE YOU BECOME IN THE HAND. (Rev. 2:4-5; 3:16)
He said that a Christian is a person who is born again, who has received Christian baptism, who is a believer in Jesus Christ and His teachings, but unfortunately today, many claim to be Christian but fail follow Jesus teachings.
According to him, the followers of Jesus Christ were first called “CHRISTIAN” in Antioch (Act 11:26) because they believed in Christ and followed his example, the word “CHRISTIAN” was initially used by their detractors in a derogation sense, but believers embraced the term as a badge of honor, while the first century Christians did follow the teachings, practices and examples of Jesus at that time.
The cleric said the attribute of a Christian is as follows; Saved by Grace through faith. (Eph. 2:8-9), Imitates God. (Eph. 5:1), Obeys God (John 14:15), doesn’t conform to the word standard (Rom. 12:2; James 4:4-15), Exercises power over the enemy (Mark 16:17-18), Walks in love, Bears good fruit (Matt. 7:18-20).
He further made mention of Solomon, which he use as a case study; his positive time with God, his backsliding, consequences of his backslide, his advice/observation, how he later regretted his actions and interactions with enemy of Israel.
The Cleric advised the congregation while giving some rhetorical questions; (I) how did you start your Christian race? (ii)How was the enthusiasm like? (iii) How did you know? If your Christianity is to be measured, will you measure up to standard? (Rev. 2:4-5; 3-16) (iv) Now, won’t you remember how you started: - Are you still in the race? What will your children derive as a result of your deeds? (Because of David, the kingdom wasn’t totally wiped out – 1 King 11:12-13), (GHB 397: Stanza 2).
