The Superintendent, Christ Apostolic Church, Yaba Districts' Coordinating Council (DCC), Yaba Lagos Pastor SEA Oludare has urged churches to go back to hymn singing.
Pastor Oludare who noted that hymns have been in the church over 5000 years ago said that hymn singing has divine inspiration and it brings down the presence of God.
The Superintendent stated this while preaching at "Evening with the Veterans" (hymns service) organized by the Choir of CAC Yaba DCC headquarters held recently.
He said that hymn is as old as 5000 years, explaining that the Isrealites sang hymn after crossing the Red Sea and Jesus sang hymn after taking Holy Communion with His disciples.
The Cleric commended hymn singers, adding that hymn singing is full of power and inspiration.
"I grew up seeing my parents singing hymns. This generation is gradually losing the passion for hymn singing. The Authority of CAC Worldwide knows the importance of hymns that was why they mandated it that we should be singing 4 hymns during Sunday services. Our hymns in CAC are very rich," he noted.
Pastor Oludare said to sing acceptable hymns, Holy Spirit is needed, unlike the manner with which singers sing contemporary songs without inspiration.
