The President of Christ Apostolic Church, Worldwide, Pastor Abraham Olukunle Akinosun has called on President Muhammad Buhari to do everything within his power to secure the release of Leah Shaibu.
Pastor Akinosun who was fielding questions from Pressmen at a Press Conference he addressed at Ikeji Arakeji, at the ongoing Pastors' Conference of the Church, said if the ultimatum reportedly issued to the Federal Government by the Boko Haram is true, the government must make the needed sacrifice to save the innocent girl.
He added that Nigeria could not afford religious war. The government should therefore spare no effort to get Lear out of the terrorists enclave.
Earlier, Pastor Akinosun had called on the Federal Government to take bold steps to diversify the economy as a bleak future awaits the future of oil.
He said when the advanced nations carry out their plan to phase out production of petrol vehicles in 2025, in preference for those using renewable energies, the oil export which now drives Nigerian economy would drastically reduce and this would result in serious economic melt down.
He also called on all the three tiers of government to urgently take over provision of housing in order to control unrestrained expansion of towns which is fast shrinking Nigeria's land asset. He said if immediate steps are not taken, there may be no land in the foreseeable future for Nigerians to farm.
This, he observed, would threaten the country's food security.
Pastor Akinosun also spoke on the need to allow state governments to set up their own police in order to reverse the escalating security challenge like kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes.
The cleric also asked President Buhari to prosecute the killer herdsmen who were said to have been arrested in Benue, Plateau, Adamawa and Taraba states in order to disabuse the minds of his critics who alleged that his government was giving the Fulani killers a cover.
